The Road Not Taken

I have been thinking a lot lately. I know that I should be studying but I am not the type of person who can fully concentrate in studies only. My mind always wanders off to different things. For the past few days, I have been reviewing the choices that I had made in my life, specifically in education. Throughout my life, I made many decisions. I chose to stay in SMK Sentosa. I chose to study Form 6. I chose to study in NTU. I chose to study Mechanical Engineering. All these decisions are responsible for all my educational experiences and also mould me into what I am now.

I have no regrets in choosing this particular path. I enjoy every moment of my life. However, I do ponder about what my life would have turned out to be, if I had chosen otherwise? With all the different experiences and encounters, what would I have become? I like to fantasize about the endless possibilities.

Now, back to the reality that I still have one last paper. I shall end this post with a poem from Robert Frost.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
